Corporate Memberships
This program allows your corporation or
business to build good will and demonstrate civic leadership by giving
back to the community. The YMCA wants to increase both membership and
volunteerism. Through this program your employees become members of the
YMCA and have total use of the facility and availability of programs
with no restrictions on usage or hours. This is the membership
aspect. As part of the
program, employees must volunteer for a YMCA program, event or
committee. This is the giving back to the community aspect. Program is
open to employees and their families. For further information, contact
Sandra Wingate at (914) 631-4807 ext. 10 or Gerry Riera at ext. 17.
Silver Sneakers
The Silver Sneakers program is a great
way for seniors to stay in shape, increase energy and feel good. If you
are 65 years or older and are Medicare-eligible, you may qualify for a
free membership to the Family YMCA at Tarrytown through the Silver
Sneakers Program. For more information, contact Sandra Wingate at (914)
631-4807, ext. 10.
Refunds
Program fees are refundable if requests
are made at least one week prior to the first day of classes, for
classes the YMCA cancels, and for documented medical reasons. Unless the
YMCA cancels a class, a $10 processing fee is charged for all refunds.
Membership
Fees are not refundable.

Program Registration
Members are entitled to register
for the following YMCA programs and activities: YMCA Youth Sports, Teen
Strength Training, Computer Classes, Dance Classes, Art Classes,
Preschool Enrichment (Tumble Tots), and YMCA Swim Lessons: Parent/Child,
Preschool
and Youth. Prior to each Program Session, the following opportunities
for registration are
available:
Priority Registration is for members who are currently
participating in programs, and occurs approximately three weeks prior to
the beginning of a new session. Members may only register for programs
scheduled on the same day and time as currently registered.
Change Days occur after all priority participants have had the
opportunity to register, and are available for those wishing to transfer
registration to another day and/or time, without incurring the $10.00
change fee.
Family Priority Registration is for those holding Family
Memberships, and who are not currently enrolled in programs and
activities. Only eligible members may register during these two days,
approximately two weeks prior to a new session.
Open Registration begins with a one-day event, held Saturdays,
for those members and non-members wishing to register for YMCA programs
and activities. Non-members may purchase memberships at this time.
Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. Those wishing to
register for youth swim lessons (our largest program) may wish to arrive
early. Registrations are taken by number (first come, first served) and
numbers are given out beginning at 7:00 a.m. when the building opens.
Open Registration continues through the beginning of the session.
Program registration will not be accepted after the fourth week of
classes.
NOTE; If you
have a child currently enrolled in a class and would like to enroll a
sibling, please contact
the Program Director of that particular program (e.g. Aquatic Director)
for special sibling priority
registration.
Childcare, art and dance classes, and the
pool are typically closed the last week of August into the first week of
September for cleaning and maintenance. This summer we are making
significant improvements to and thus
will close the pool and locker rooms starting
Monday, August 25th and will reopen them for member use on
Monday, September 8th.

The YMCA Values
The YMCA is committed to
providing character development opportunities for everyone we serve.
The fundamental values associated with strong character are Caring,
Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. It is
our goal to model and teach these values in all of the activities and
programs the YMCA provides. We respectfully request that
members allow these values to govern behavior while participating in
YMCA programs and activities.
YMCA Service Area
The Family YMCA at Tarrytown is pleased to provide YMCA programs and
activities to residents of Westchester Historic River Towns spanning
Peekskill to Hastings-on-Hudson, including: Ardsley, Briarcliff
Manor, Buchanan, Cortlandt, Cortlandt Manor, Crompond, Croton-on-Hudson,
Crugers, Dobbs Ferry, Eastview, Elmsford, Hastings-on-Hudson, Irvington,
Maryknoll, Montrose, Ossining, Peekskill, Pocantico Hills, Scarborough,
Sleepy Hollow, Tarrytown and Verplanck.
Through an
initiative we call “Y Without Walls,” we are willing and able to offer
many of our programs, especially group exercise programs for seniors,
locally in your community if it falls in our service area. Please
contact Gerry Riera, extension 17 with program ideas and opportunities.
Emergency Closings
The YMCA will announce emergency
program cancellations and closures due to inclement weather on the
following radio stations: WHUD 100.7 FM, WFAS 103.9 FM, WFAS 106.3
FM, WFAS 1230 AM. Make-up classes, class credits, or refunds will
not be issued for inclement weather closings, including lightning and
thunder that closes the pool temporarily. Whenever possible, we will
post emergency closings on the What's Happening section of Home Page on
this website. This may not always take place. We will call all
swim lesson participants in the event of a building closure due to snow
or ice storms.
Financial Aid
Through the generosity of our
contributors, the Family YMCA at Tarrytown is pleased to offer financial
aid opportunities for all income-qualified families and individuals.
Our mission ensures that no eligible individual or family will be turned
away. Financial aid packages are available for all levels of
membership and all programs. Aid packages are valid for one year
from application. Please contact Aquatics Director/Financial Aid
Administrator Melissa Weaver at
(914) 631-4807 ext. 14 for
more information or to apply for financial aid.
YMCA Volunteer Opportunities
The strength of our organization largely
depends upon volunteers. From those on the Board of Directors, who
set the policies and direction that govern our future, to those raising
needed funds, teaching classes or caring for kids, each makes a
difference in the lives they touch and more broadly for the YMCA as a
community center. Volunteer opportunities abound at the YMCA, and
we are always on the lookout for good people. If you’re
interested, please call Sandra Wingate (914) 631-4807 ext 10.
Payment Methods:
Personal Checks for
more than $10.00 are accepted with a valid driver’s license and one
major credit card as identification.
Credit Cards may
be used to purchase memberships, program registrations or sales items.
VISA, MasterCard and American Express are accepted.
Monthly Credit Card
Draft allows one-twelfth of your annual membership to be charged
automatically to your VISA, MasterCard or American Express account each month. Draft
payments are continuous, do not end after one year, and renewal
reminders are not issued. The Initiation Fee is added to the first
month’s payment amount. All changes to your credit card account
status, including receiving a replacement card for an expired credit
card, should be immediately reported to Melissa Chulla ext. 21 so that
your account does not unnecessarily or mistakenly fall into arrears
(which causes us to cancel your membership).
Cancellations must be received no later than the 10th day of
any month to avoid payment of that month’s draft. All current
membership cards must accompany a completed Draft Termination Form to
complete the termination. Charges are made during the last two
weeks of the month.
Health, Safety, Security and Convenience
Membership cards provide a
system of safety and security in the YMCA facility. Please present
your valid card(s) at the Member Service Desk each time you enter the
building. It may be retrieved upon your exit. In the event
of an emergency, YMCA personnel will use your card(s) to ensure a
complete evacuation. Lost or misplaced
membership cards will be replaced at the Member Service Desk for $5.00 per card.
If you do not have your card, you will be expected to leave your
driver's license or other photo ID at the Member Service Desk. You
will not be permitted entry without photo ID.
Your cooperation in
maintaining the Family YMCA at Tarrytown as a smoke-free, alcohol-free
facility is appreciated. Members are welcome to enjoy food and
drink in the lobby area only. We do not permit cell phone use
anywhere except lobby areas.
Emergency Intercoms are
located in the racquetball courts, sauna and steam rooms. In the
event of an emergency, press the button to reach a YMCA operator.
Fire alarms are located
throughout the building. In the event of a fire alarm or other
emergency, please exit the building through closest emergency exit,
provided it is not blocked or unsafe and remain on the side walk until
instructed to return to the building. If you use the main exit located near
the parking lot on Windle Park, walk out of the parking lot (so as
not to block emergency vehicles) and remain on the Windle Park sidewalk
at least six feet away from the driveway entrance until instructed to
return to the building. During a fire alarm or other emergency,
follow all directions given by YMCA personnel. Your retrieval of
your Membership card(s) help us to ensure that the building is empty
during an emergency. Member Service personnel will return card(s)
to you near the door as you exit.
Athletic clothing is
recommended. Belts, buckles, denim and rivets are prohibited.
Loose clothing and
jewelry should be secured for safety during YMCA activities.
Strength and Fitness
Center use must be preceded by an orientation, which may be scheduled at
the Member Service Desk. The Strength and Fitness Center is
reserved for members and guests 15 years and older. Members aged
13 to 15 may use the Fitness Center at designated hours and only after
completing a mandatory orientation.
Water bottles are
permitted in exercise areas. Please store food, other drinks,
additional clothing and bags or luggage in the locker rooms. No
cell phones in the fitness center
Racquetball Court use
requires eye protection, wrist cords and athletic clothing. Hourly
court reservations may be made up to two days in advance, and will be
held for ten minutes after the appointed hour. Second reservations
on the same day may be made after 9:00 AM. Minimum age for use is
15.
Steam and Sauna Rooms
are for dual-gender use. Respectful behavior, swimsuits and towels
or robes are required, and personal grooming should be confined to
locker rooms.
Pool may be used only
when a YMCA lifeguard is on duty. Swimsuits are required and
bathing caps are recommended. Lap swimming lanes are designated
Slow, Medium and Fast, and swimmers are asked to adjust their lanes
based upon the fastest swimmer in the pool. Lifeguards are
authorized to make such adjustments when necessary. Please limit
the use of flippers to Slow Lane and recreational swimming.
Adult supervision of
all children attending Family Recreational Swims is mandatory.
One adult must accompany youth in the water at all times. Only one
non-swimmer per adult permitted. Youth wishing to swim in the deep
end must pass a deep-water test. Member owned flotation devices are
permitted. Guests are welcome to join the fun (paying appropriate
guest fee) on an unlimited basis.
Children 6 to 14 years are invited to attend Youth Recreational Swims. Children 6 to 14 years must be able to stand or swim in the shallow end of the
pool (3.5 feet). The YMCA is unable to accommodate guests during Youth Recreational
Swims. Flotation devices are not allowed, and adults/parents are
not permitted in the pool.
Gymnasium use requires
athletic shirt, pants or shorts, and sneakers. The Gymnasium is
tightly scheduled for a variety of activities, and many are age-group
limited. A schedule is available on the website, in the current
brochure, and at the Member Service Desk. Conduct exhibiting
Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility is mandatory.
Lockers are available
for use during all open hours. Conduct exhibiting Caring, Honesty,
Respect and Responsibility is mandatory in the locker rooms. No
food or drink may be consumed in the locker rooms. The YMCA
recommends locking your belongings with your own lock, which may be
purchased at the Member Service Desk. Children over the age of 5
years are required to use a gender-appropriate locker room. Adult
supervision of all children is highly recommended. Overnight use
of lockers is not permitted.
Items for sale at the
Member Service Desk include padlocks, swim goggles, bathing caps, swim
“bubbles”, racquetballs, handballs, eye protection, and swim patches.

equipment is available for complimentary use in the gymnasium during
open use times.

available in the lobby. Please feel free to communicate with us by
