Teen Theater Adult Art Computer Classes

Teen Theater (Grades 6 - 12)  (Check out our Shakespeare in the Park camp for summer 2007)

YMCA SHAKESPEARE LAB:  Breaking the Bard's Secret Code - Fall session only
Magic, mayhem, jealousy, ghosts, adventure, sword fights, love, hate, monsters, murderers, kings, thieves, fools.  What is this - the latest Hollywood blockbuster?  Think again, it's the work of William Shakespeare, the world's greatest playwright!  Peter Royston helps you break the Bard's secret code with a 9-week workshop in reading, speaking, and acting Shakespeare!  Close readings of monologues, detailed scene work, improvisations, and in-depth work on iambic pentameter and blank verse are all focused on.  The Lab ends with an invited performance.  Get ready for the ride of your life:  The YMCA Shakespeare Lab will make you the ultimate classical theatre action hero!  For more information, contact Peter Royston at (914) 589-4405.

Adult Art (ages 15 & Up)

Independent study exploring drawing, painting, and watercolor techniques. Students may register for a particular day and are given one-on-one instruction and direction. Students will work from still life, photographs and imagination. All levels, from  hobbyist to accomplished artist, will find their imagination challenged as they develop new skills or perfect existing ones. 

Drawing –
Discover form, line, and composition through a series of exercises and projects.



Watercolor – Beginner/Intermediate

Learn technique, composition and design.


Painting – Beginner/Intermediate
Explore color, contrasting, brush strokes, primers, etc. Work
from still life as well as your imagination.

Monday or Thursday 7:00 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Supplies
All adult class participants must supply their own tools. All classes will receive a supply list during the first day of class.

Y Fine Arts Fees (9 week session Spring I)

Hand building/Wheel – Beginner/Intermediate - Class CURRENTLY NOT IN SESSION.
Class will concentrate on the different techniques of hand-building and wheel throwing. The class will work on coil, pinch, slab as well as creating bowls, mugs, etc.
Wednesday: 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Fee includes starter kit of tools and clay.
